Om kurset

A series of practical activities designed to raise learners’ awareness of different aspects of pronunciation – sounds, stress, intonation and sounds in contact.
We will begin by looking at some English words (and proper nouns such as place names) that are often mispronounced and which, with minor adjustments, could make learners immediately more fluent in their speech. We will then go on to work through some short awareness-raining activities that focus on sounds that may be tricky to discriminate between and/or produce.
In the stress section, we will work with words that change their meaning depending on stress placement and also have fun with some entertaining differences between word stress in British and American English which can impact on comprehension.
The role of stress placement in longer utterances is also of interest and this is also reflected in intonation, arguably one of the more complex aspects of English pronunciation.
Phonetic changes that occur when sounds are in contact will also be discussed, notably, again, those which can sometimes affect comprehension.

Bemærk: Kurset foregår på engelsk.
